CONSTRUCTION DETAIL

The joint is where single arm poles are won or lost

A detachable arm gives you flexibility, but it adds a connection — and a connection is a place where water gets in and bolts work loose. We would rather explain how ours is built than pretend the joint isn’t there.

single arm light pole

Machined mating faces

Both flange faces are CNC-faced flat to 0.1 mm, so the gasket compresses evenly. Cast-and-fit flanges leave gaps that let water track into the shaft.

Gasketed, stainless-bolted

Four M12 A2-70 stainless bolts through an EPDM gasket, torqued to 45 N·m and paint-marked. Stainless in an aluminium joint avoids the galvanic pairing you get with plain steel.

Load-spread arm collar

The arm root is sleeved with a welded collar before the flange, moving the stress concentration off the flange weld and into the parent tube.

Protected internal cable path

Cable runs inside the shaft and out through the arm with radiused grommets at both ends. No external conduit, no chafing at the joint.

Gusseted base flange

An arm at 1.5 m outreach puts a permanent overturning moment on the base. Four welded gussets spread that load into the plate, with the shaft-to-plate weld dye-penetrant tested at 100%.

Arm configuration

Outreach 0.5 m to 3.0 m, four tilt angles

Outreach sets how far the light sits over the carriageway; tilt sets where the beam lands. Both are specified independently of pole height.

APPLICATIONS

Where these poles are installed

Aluminum single arm light pole installed for urban street lighting

Municipal roads, car parks and highway service lanes

Single arm is the default for large tenders because one pole SKU covers the whole site — only the arm length changes between a 7 m side street and a 14 m main road. Stock control and spares get much simpler.

Why buyers choose the single arm form

Specify the pole once, change the arm whenever you like

A detachable arm is the practical choice when outreach may change, when luminaires will be replaced mid-life, or when freight cost matters. The pole becomes a standard item and the arm becomes the variable.

Independent outreach spec

Outreach and mounting height are set separately, so one pole height covers many road widths. Change the arm, keep the pole — no new tooling, no new drawing.

Serviceable, replaceable arm

Arms unbolt with four fasteners from the hand hole platform. Damaged arms, upgraded luminaires or revised geometry are handled without touching the foundation.

Longer reach than a davit

A straight braced arm carries load more efficiently than a curved neck, so single arm reaches 3.0 m where a davit is practical to about 2.5 m.

Better container fill

Arms ship detached and nested flat, so a 40 ft HQ takes roughly 50% more sets than the equivalent davit pole. Freight per set drops accordingly.

Engineered joint, not an afterthought

The arm flange is machined flat, gasketed and bolted with four A2-70 stainless bolts to a specified torque. Sealed against water ingress and re-torquable in service.

Marine-grade coating

Chromate-free pre-treatment plus AkzoNobel polyester powder, 80 µm nominal. Pole and arm coated in the same batch so colour matches exactly.

ABOUT THE MANUFACTURER

A pole factory, not a trading company

factory

Founded in 2003, we operate a 50,000 m2 plant with three spinning lines, two robotic welding cells and an in-house powder coating line. Annual output is around 120,000 poles.

Roughly 70% of our volume is export, supplied to lighting contractors, municipal tenders and distributors across the EU, North America, the Gulf and Southeast Asia. We work directly against your drawings and will sign NDA and OEM agreements – poles ship under your brand and packaging where required.

English- and Spanish-speaking sales engineers handle technical queries; structural calculation reports for your local wind zone are prepared free with any project enquiry.

PRODUCTION FLOW

From aluminium billet to loaded container

Shaft, arm and flange hardware are all produced and assembled in our own plant, then trial-fitted as a matched set before coating. Nothing is subcontracted, which is why we can hold a 15–25 day lead time.

1.Material inbound

6063 billets and tube with mill certificates; spectrometer check on every lot.

2.CNC spinning

Tube is spun to thespecified conical taper on a programmed mandrel.

3.T6 heat treat

Solution treatment andartificial ageing to reachfull T6 temper.

4.Arm fabrication

Arm cut to outreach, collar sleeved, flange machined and welded.

5.Robot welding

Flange and collar welded by TIG robot, then dye- penetrant inspected.

6.Trial assembly

Every arm is bolted to its pole, alignment and tilt verified, then match-marked.

7.QC & packing

Pole and arm powder coated in one batch, final checks, wrap and load.

PACKING & SHIPPING

Arms ship flat — which is why freight is cheaper

Because the arm detaches, both parts pack densely and neither has a projecting section to be knocked. This is the single biggest cost advantage of the form.

packing
Individual sleeve

Each shaft is sleeved in pearl cotton foam then woven polypropylene, taped at both ends. Coated surfaces never touch each other.

Arm cartons, match-marked

Arms nest flat in separate cartons with the flange faces protected, each labelled with the pole it was trial-fitted to. Bolts, gaskets and anchor sets in their own boxes.

Nested timber frames

Shafts bundled head-to-tail in fumigated timber frames with steel strapping, stackable and forklift-ready.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask before ordering

Can you produce to my drawing instead of your catalogue?

Yes - this is most of our work. Send a PDF or DWG and we return a production drawing for approval within 24 hours.

Whatis thereal MOQ?

10 pleces, and you may mix heights and finishes within that quantity for a trial order. Below 10 pieces we can still quote, but freight per unit becomes uneconomic for you.

Aluminium or galvanised steel - which shouldI choose?

Aluminium if corrosion, weight or maintenance matters: coastal sites, pedestrian areas, projects without crane access. Steel remains cheaper per piece for very tallpoles above 12 m with heavy luminaire loads. We will tell you honestly if steel suits your project better.

Do you supply the luminaires as well?

We supply poles, arms and brackets. We can integrate LED luminaires from partner factories and ship as a complete set if you prefer a single supplier, but the poles are our own production.

Will you provide structural calculations?

Yes. Give us the design wind speed, terrain category, luminaire weight and projected area, and we issue an EN 40-3 calculation report for the configuration - free ofcharge with a project enquiry.

How is the coating warranty handled?

Ten years against flaking, blistering and delamination under normal outdoor exposure. Claims are settled by replacement poles shipped with your next order, supported by photo evidence.

Can l inspect before shipment?

Yes. You are welcome at the factory, or we accept third-party inspection by SGS, BV,TUV or your own agent. We also send a photo and measurement report for everybatch as standard.

What about samples?

A 500 mm cut section in your chosen finish is free; you cover the courier. Full-heightsample poles are charged at unit price and credited against your first bulk order.
