12 m Curved-Arm Stainless Steel Light Poles – Erbil, Iraq

This Erbil, Iraq project involved 1,000 large curved-arm stainless steel light poles. The existing project brief specifies a 12 m nominal height and an 8,000 mm arm curvature radius.

Curved-arm design and logistics

A large-radius arm affects fabrication, transport dimensions and the load transferred to the pole. Connection details and shipping supports should be defined in approved drawings. The project’s structural requirements depend on the final luminaire, arm geometry and site wind criteria. No freight saving or test result is claimed here without supporting records.

Why the arm radius needs to appear on the drawing

An 8,000 mm radius describes the intended curve, but the full geometry also needs arm length, section size, luminaire position and connection details. Two arms with the same nominal radius can have different reach and loading. A dimensioned elevation is therefore more useful to a fabricator than a product photograph alone.

For a 1,000-pole order, repeatability and shipping configuration also matter. The approved packing plan should protect the curved section and identify matching components for site assembly. The local engineer must confirm the pole and foundation design for the actual luminaire and wind criteria; the appearance of a completed installation cannot demonstrate a particular structural rating.
