Process
Application:
– Electrostatic spray guns charge the powder particles, which adhere to the grounded aluminum pole.
– Uniform coverage is critical, especially for complex shapes.
Curing:
– Heat in an oven (~350–400°F / 177–204°C) for 10–15 minutes.
– The powder melts and forms a smooth, hard finish.
Quality Control & Testing
– Adhesion Test: ASTM D3359 (cross-cut tape test).
– Thickness Check: 2–4 mils (50–100 microns) is typical for light poles.
– Salt Spray Test: ASTM B117 (500+ hours for industrial/marine environments).
